ABOUT US Douglas Stratton, President
The Stratton Foundation is a non-operating, private family foundation based in Detroit. It was founded in 2000 by Douglas Stratton with the goal of helping students learn, discover and develop successful careers that integrate art and technology. Initially the foundation made grants to an endowment for scholarships and other educational programs for students interested in careers related to the polymers industry, including coating and glazing technology. In 2007 the foundation launched its podcast program to bring its audience the voices of college students, as well as experienced professionals, with successful careers that integrate art and technology. Their stories bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to help guide and mentor students along their path toward a successful career. Guests on the podcast program share their backgrounds and experiences of interest to students. In 2009 the organization began making grants to the College for Creative Studies to support scholarships for students in the Entertainment Arts Department. The foundation is also a department sponsor during the school's annual Student Exhibition and other events such as the annual Moving Pictures program screening student films. We are excited to work with the academic and administrative staff at the College for Creative Studies to support and help the students. We strive to maintain contact with our scholarship recipients to provide encouragement and support as they develop their professional careers. The Stratton Foundation is a member of the Association of Small Foundations. The Stratton Foundation is a tax-exempt organization qualified by the Government of the United States of America Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under the Internal Revenue Code (501)(c) (3).
